Seeing through the eyes of others

poetry and writings based on the truth of life. Everyone sees through their own lenses. Trade glasses with someone else and view your world…and theirs. I write personal, I write upon request and not limited to one area, genre, or style

gates are not walls

One of the biggest misunderstandings in Christianity is this:
“If I’m kind, I have to say yes to everyone.”

News flash: Kindness is not the same as compliance.
Jesus was full of compassion, mercy, and grace, but He also walked away from crowds, confronted hypocrisy, and refused to let people control His mission. He loved everyone, but He wasn’t equally available to everyone.

Healthy boundaries aren’t selfish, unforgiving, or unloving. They’re not about punishing people; they’re about protecting the peace, wisdom, and responsibilities God has entrusted to you. You can forgive someone and still decide not to give them unlimited access to your life.

A kind heart gives freely and encourages others—but it isn’t naïve. It pays attention to patterns, it names harmful behavior, and it refuses to pretend that everything is fine when it isn’t.
Remember John 2:24: “But Jesus would not entrust himself to them, for he knew all people.” He loved everyone, yet He did not entrust Himself to everyone. That’s not a lack of love, that’s biblical discernment.
So keep your heart tender. Don’t let disappointment turn you cold or cynical.

Keep praying.

Keep forgiving.

But also remember:
Kindness does not require unlimited access.
Boundaries are not walls, they are gates, and you get to decide who comes in.
