As someone recently asked me, actually today, what I believe without all the fluff and stuff… or the miracle spring water or the ‘new and improved’ miracle spring water, and other such lunacy and lies

My response is simple, true and this is what I replied with:

Sola Scriptura  means that when we are speaking about God, truth, and salvation, the final authority does not rest in a church body, a denominational tradition, or any human opinion, but in the Word of God.

This does not mean that we cast aside teachers, the church, or the wisdom handed down through history. These things have their place, and they can help guide us, shape us, and keep us from drifting, so long as they are in agreement with the Scriptures. They do not stand above the Word of God, but beneath it, always accountable to it.

So when we come to the most important question a person can ask, “How is someone saved?” we do not settle for what a church says or what tradition teaches. We go back to the Scriptures themselves.

It is not about slogans, buzzwords, or emphasizing one idea repeatedly, or identifying with a denomination, or striving after sinless perfection, or anything else.

It is about what God has plainly spoken.
The Lord Jesus Christ said, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life” (John 6:47)

In the book of Acts it is written, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved” (Acts 16:31)

The apostle Paul declares, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast” (Ephesians 2:8–9)

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved” (Romans 10:9)

“And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:” (1 Corinthians 15:4)

This is the foundation.
This is the message.

It is a simple truth, even though many make it complicated.

Salvation is not something a person achieves; it is something received. It does not come through baptism alone, nor through church membership, nor through religious rituals, nor by attempting to build up good works as though they could earn favor.

It comes through faith in Jesus Christ faith in what He has done at the cross, and in His resurrection from the dead.

As the Scripture says, “In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins” (Colossians 1:14), and again, “The blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin” (1 John 1:7).

So when I or others say or ask about ‘sola 0Scriptura’ , it’s not necessarily rejecting all other voices, but we are testing everything by the Word of God.

For when we are dealing with eternity, when we are speaking of salvation and truth, we need something firmer than shifting opinions, human pride, self righteousness, arrogance, condemnation, or endless arguments.

Souls need something final, unchanging, and true, and that is Scripture alone.
