The house no longer holds their presence, their spot at the kitchen table, and the chair in the corner is empty, the fragrance of that person is now gone
The hospital bed, along with hearts and lives are empty, and thusly a piece of the lives that loved them passes too
We have memories, strong and clear, and as we carry broken hearts, and a particular grief that always seems close by
The vacancy left behind can never be filled
The tears, the sorrow, and the pain that follow cannot be avoided, even by the most stoic and stubborn among us
Funerals are held, but the person is not truly there; they have already gone into eternity, as it’s only for honoring a life; for those of us left behind
Death.
We all must face it
