Seeing through the eyes of others

poetry and writings based on the truth of life. Everyone sees through their own lenses. Trade glasses with someone else and view your world…and theirs. I write personal, I write upon request and not limited to one area, genre, or style

You’re a person not a project

If you’ve been shaped by Abandonment Schema or being left, overlooked, or loved in ways that didn’t stay steady; whether that came from childhood, a marriage, or your own family, I want to speak to you plainly, and with care.

There’s nothing wrong with you.

What you feel didn’t come out of nowhere. It was learned, little by little, in places where love didn’t always feel secure or certain. Somewhere along the way, your mind and body figured out that connection could slip away without much warning.

So you adapted.
You paid attention.
You learned to notice every shift in tone, every pause, every bit of distance, and more.

That is not weakness. That is survival.
Your sensitivity to being left isn’t a flaw, it’s something that helped you get through what you had to get through.

Healing doesn’t mean pretending none of that happened. It doesn’t ask you to forget, but it does is give you something new to experience, one small moment at a time. It shows you, slowly, that silence doesn’t always mean someone’s gone, and that another person setting a boundary doesn’t take anything away from your worth.

It’s not loud or sudden.
It’s steady.
It grows the way things do out here: quiet, patient, and real.

You will say:
Right now, I’m safe enough.
Right now, I’m not alone.
Internally, your body begins to settle, and it learns that the present isn’t the same as the past.

Inside you, there are two voices…. Not in a psychological meaning, but just self talking to self. One side has been around a long time and tells you love is hard to keep, that you’ve got to work for it, earn it, or hold on tight so it doesn’t slip away.

The other side is quieter, as it tells you that you’re already worthy of something steady, that real people do not ask you to shrink or prove yourself, or fit their mold.

In a good steady relationship, especially in therapy you won’t be treated like something that needs to be repaired. Instead, you’re met with consistency. Someone who stays.

Someone who doesn’t disappear when things get heavy. I’ll be there through the silence, through the frustration, through all of it. Not to rescue you, but to stand alongside you.

You will learn and live and know:
I’m here.
You’re here.
You don’t have to earn love.

Wanting connection isn’t something to hide. It’s part of being human and you and I, we’re definitely human.
