Seeing through the eyes of others

poetry and writings based on the truth of life. Everyone sees through their own lenses. Trade glasses with someone else and view your world…and theirs. I write personal, I write upon request and not limited to one area, genre, or style

What we see…

The photographer catches the sunlight resting inside a dandelion’s crown, each seed a little star, each fine filament holding the morning’s promise or the last golden breath of evening

The poet sees it, too: the hollow stem rising faithfully from the earth, the green leaves gathered low beneath it, the flower lifting its bright face toward whatever light the day is kind enough to give

Some folks call it a weed, but the dandelion never feels the need to apologize; It lives where it can, through sidewalk cracks, across open fields, beside old fences and along forgotten paths. Its roots run deep, and it returns after every cutting, steady as grace

Its leaves offer nourishment; they can be gathered for a meal or steeped into tea, a quiet gift from the good soil. Its golden bloom feeds the eyes before it turns to silver, each seed waiting patiently for the wind to carry life farther than the flower could ever travel alone

So when that breeze finally comes, the dandelion lets go, not because it is empty, but because it has made an abundance

The photographer raises a lens and keeps the moment safe: sunlight burning through fragile seeds, shadows resting beneath the seeds, beauty shining in the very place others only thought to overlook

The poet does much the same, though with a different kind of light. One preserves what the eye can behold; the other gives it words shaped by the heart, by memory, by feeling

Still, both stand before that dandelion and recognize the same truth: beauty is not made smaller because it is overlooked Nourishment can grow where nobody thought to plant it Even the smallest flower can hold the whole sun for a little while

The poet and the photographer meet there in that quiet union of seeing… joined by wonder, emotions stirred by creation, each sharing in the vivid delight of a simple dandelion
One frames it in light; the other carries it in language

Together, they make a memory of it, a piece of life held close, and remind us that the world is full of beauty for those willing to truly see or to read
